On a typical day more than 50 Vermonters ask for help from Vermont Legal Aid . They are almost always upset, often desperate and at the end of their rope. They are facing homelessness or seeking protection from abuse, trying to find health care for their children or help a parent in a nursing home. They may have been sued or had their benefits cut or be facing involuntary medication. They come to us when they have already made 10 phone calls or been to four different government offices. They often, quite literally, have nowhere else to turn. In the last year more than 19,000 Vermonters contacted us seeking help.
