Commitment to Diversity & Inclusion

Vermont Legal Aid believes that everyone should have equal access to legal services.

We work hard to be accessible and welcoming and to foster cultural competency and inclusiveness in order to more effectively fight poverty, discrimination and inequality.

We believe that diversity produces a more dynamic, creative, and thoughtful community. Accordingly, we support diversity of thought, culture and life experience among our staff and our community.

We All Belong

In 2013, Vermont Legal Aid joined We All Belong,a citywide program of Burlington’s Community and Economic Development Office. The program presented diversity and cultural competency training to our staff and coordinated the service of two full-time AmeriCorps volunteers to help us put the training into action.

The We All Belong Program helped us to develop practices that improve our ability to reach and represent underserved communities.
